At ReelCutter, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. We are committed to GDPR compliance and Indian IT Act requirements.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use ReelCutter: Account Information: Name, email address, and password (hashed) when you create an account. Usage Data: YouTube URLs submitted for processing, processing timestamps, plan usage counters, and job results viewed. Payment Information: Payment is processed by Stripe or Razorpay. We do not store card numbers or banking credentials. We receive only transaction tokens and billing references. Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and page views collected via standard server logs and analytics. Communications: Emails you send to our support team and any forms you fill out on our platform.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data to: provide and improve the Service; authenticate your identity and maintain account security; enforce plan limits and usage policies; process payments and manage subscriptions; send transactional emails (job results, receipts, plan changes); respond to support inquiries; analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve our AI models (we never train models on individual user data without explicit consent); comply with legal obligations.
3. Video and Audio Processing
When you submit a YouTube URL, our system fetches only the public audio stream of that video. This audio is transcribed ephemerally in memory and deleted within minutes of job completion. We do not permanently store any audio, video, or transcript data on our servers beyond what is shown in your job results dashboard. Job results (timestamps, virality scores, transcript snippets) are stored associated with your account for your convenience and are deleted when you delete your account or a specific job.
4. Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services that may receive limited data: OpenAI / AssemblyAI: Audio transcription. Audio data is sent to their APIs and subject to their privacy policies. Stripe / Razorpay: Payment processing. We share only billing-relevant data. Vercel / AWS: Infrastructure hosting. Your data may be stored in servers located in India, the EU, or the US. PostHog / Google Analytics: Anonymized usage analytics. We do not send personally identifiable information to analytics providers.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies for session management and authentication. We use analytics cookies (with your consent) to understand how users interact with our platform. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may affect Service functionality.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Job results are retained for 90 days on the Free plan and 365 days on paid plans. You can delete specific jobs or your entire account at any time from your account settings. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, except as required by applicable law or for fraud prevention purposes.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to processing of your data; data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format); withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. 8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures: TLS encryption for all data in transit; AES-256 encryption for sensitive data at rest; SOC 2 compliant infrastructure; regular security audits; access controls limiting who can access user data internally. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to promptly disclosing any material breaches that affect your data.
9. Children's Privacy
ReelCutter is not directed to individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us personal information, we will delete such information promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice on our Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
